Our Mentors Over Zoom!
After all of our mentors have been interviewed, the accepted mentor cohort meets for a group session where they learn about a holistic approach to mentoring.
Our founders spoke with students at Lake Park High School’s 2021 College Fair.
Our executive director, Jessica Angel, was invited to represent Summit United at the Illinois Founders’ Startup Weekend in October 2021. The conference was organized by Illinois Entrepreneurs, the University of Illinois’s largest entrepreneurial student non-profit organization that aims to provide resources and mentorship in a welcoming environment to turn feasible ideas into entrepreneurial designs. Jessica provided guidance to several startup teams as they went about developing their ideas for social impact. Past teams have gone on to win funding from the COZAD New Venture Competition, the Lightspeed Venture's Fellowship Program and more.
Congratulations to one of our amazing scholars, Kaitlin, for being accepted into Villanova University! Kaitlin was also selected as a finalist for the prestigious Villanova Presidential Scholarship.

Since September, Jessica has been working with her mentee Kaitlin on her college applications! Similar to Jessica, Kaitlin also has a deep interest in pursuing a career in national security. Our mentors are paving the way for the next generation of leaders with one success story at a time—yours is next.
Congratulations to one of our star mentees Oluwakanyinsola Abiodun! She graduated from Homewood Flossmoor High School and will be majoring in biology at Loyola University Chicago this fall. We are so proud of her accomplishments and we cannot wait to hear about all of the wonderful things she will do with her degree!
Huge congratulations to Kaitlin for committing to attend Villanova University this fall! She graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and will be majoring in criminology and business. Kaitlin is incredibly passionate about serving others and we cannot wait to see how she will bring that passion to the nova community!
